A 16-foot wood door needs heavier springs than a 9-foot steel one, so the spring price follows the door.
Spring cycle rating
Standard springs are rated for 10,000 cycles. High-cycle springs last about twice as long and cost about $60 more per pair.
Opener drive type
Chain drive costs least, belt drive is quieter, and a wall-mount opener frees the ceiling for storage.
Insulation & glass
On new doors, R-value, windows and wood-look finishes move the price more than size does.
