What we do

When a cable slips off its drum or snaps, one side of the door drops and the door hangs crooked. We secure the door, replace both cables, reset the drums so they wind evenly and re-balance the springs.

  • Both cables replaced, never just one

  • Sealed nylon rollers, set of 10, $179

  • Hinges and bottom brackets checked for wear

  • 1-year labor warranty

Rust on the bottom bracket is the most common reason a cable lets go. We show you before we replace it.

Common questions

Can I put the cable back on the drum myself?

The cable carries the full tension of the spring. Leave it to someone with winding bars and clamps.

Why replace both cables?

They wear at the same rate. Replacing one leaves you with a door that pulls unevenly and a second call within the year.

Will new rollers make it quieter?

Usually a lot quieter. Steel rollers with open bearings are the noisiest part of most older doors.
